«Man does not live by art alone».
« Valparaiso en colores » is both a concept and an idea that became reality in Chilean neighbourhoods thanks to the pictural monumental contribution we have been carrying out since 2010 through the painting of the biggest and highest mural ever painted at that time. We have added to that concept a second step, the renovation and integral development of the neighbourhoods, with the creation of green areas and adding an intangible dimension by encouraging the neighbours to get organized in order to eradicate the decaying energies that paralize the cities and suburbs where people live their everyday life.
Our project is not art-centered, that is to say, we do not just come and paint the place and leave it right away. Not at all. Our idea is to wake up sleeping communities and make them aware of the possibility to bring back to their environment the vitality and cheerfulness it may have had two decades ago, with current positive efforts and additions.
As we have fostered the freeing of art for more than twenty years, we are promoting this forward-looking and creative contribution as a driving force for new improvements led by neighbourhood organizations, and for the integration of community concepts like cleanliness and order, the implementation of which requires willingness rather than money.
« Man does not live by art alone», encompasses everything described above, and highlights the fact that our team of artists is fully conscious that this new public art brings a great renovating power to this more demanding and participative society, which, in turn, acknowledges that improving the quality of life of the inhabitants does not only depend on the citizens’rights, but also on their duties, internalizing in people’s minds that work is necessary to be satisfied with a decent, clean and beautiful day-to-day living.
